What can YOU Do?

  • Get informed
  • Write letters to: The Honorable Steven Chu/Department of Energy, 1000 Independence Ave., SW, Washington DC 20585 and the Members of Congress - because the oil and gas industry can super chill the natural gas and reduce it to liquid form and export it by tankers to manufacturing bases in China, India, Korea and Japan at the expense of our fresh water, health, air and the future of American children.  Please ask them to ban fracking now!
  • Do research online (A good starting page, Our science page, rebuttal to industry arguments, Scientific American's take)
  • Write your doctor and the Ohio State Medical Association and ask them to protect our health from oil and gas drillers.  Ask you doctor to:
-Sign the petition at ohiocitizen.org for disclosure of fracking chemicals.
-Talk to other medical professionals about fracking and the new law's infringement

on their right-to-know (Senate Bill 315 - Gov. Kasich signed into law June, 2011)
      - Urge their medical association to take a stand for our health
      - Also make a copy to the president elect of the Ohio State Medical Association:
            Neal J. Nesbitt, M.D., 75 Hospital Dr., Ste. 310, Athens, OH 45701-2860
      - If you have children, get them involved (children in NY sent letters and pictures
        to Gov. Cuomo.
  • Sign petitions and/or just give out informational fliers.
  • EDUCATE YOURSELVES AND YOUR FRIENDS, FAMILY, NEIGHBORS, CO-WORKERS -  KNOW THAT THE DANGERS LIE NOT ONLY IN SHALE DRILLING (FRACKING), BUT ALSO IN RADIOACTIVE BRINE BEING TRANSPORTED THROUGHOUT TOWNS AND USED AS DE-ICERS ON ROADS, DANGEROUS HEALTH EFFECTS FROM AIR POLLUTION, INFRASTRUCTURE DAMAGE, ILLEGAL SEISMIC TESTING DONE WITHOUT PROPERTY OWNERS CONSENT, INJECTION WELLS,  AND COMPRESSOR STATIONS.
